Guinea pigs are classified as rodents and originate from South America where they are used as a source of food. Domestic guinea pigs grow to between 25 and 30cm in length and can live to between four and seven years on average. The body is broad with a broad, short head, with no tail.
If handled early in life, guinea pigs grow to be friendly, rarely scratching or biting, making them an ideal pet in today’s society.
