Throughout history, horses have been used for a variety of practical purposes. As they slowly became domesticated animals, they were split into two main types. The slower ‘cold-blooded’ horses were heavy and used for purposes such as farm labour. The ‘warm-bloods’ were a means of fast travel.
However, since horses have become domesticated animals, people have adapted them through breeding to ensure they have specific desired qualities. Due to this selective breeding, there are now many different types of horse and a number of specific breeds for each type.
In today’s society, the loving nature, power, agility and speed means that horses are mainly used for personal pleasure and for competitions.
